Welcome to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Cumbernauld
The Fourth Sunday of Easter, often called Good Shepherd Sunday, invites us to rest in the loving care and guidance of the risen Christ. The Gospel reading from John 10:27–30 offers a deeply reassuring promise: “My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.” Jesus, the Good Shepherd, reminds us that we belong to Him—secure in His hands, held in the Father’s love.
In a world filled with noise, uncertainty, and distraction, this image of the Shepherd gently calling His sheep by name brings peace. Jesus doesn’t lead with force or fear, but with love, intimacy, and steadfast protection. His voice is one of recognition and relationship—He knows us deeply, walks with us through every valley, and lays down His life for our salvation.
The Fourth Sunday of Easter is a moment to listen again for that voice, to find comfort in being known, and to trust more fully in the promise of eternal life. The white of the Easter season still shines brightly, reminding us that the Risen Lord is not distant but ever near—our Shepherd, our Savior, our source of unending hope.

We, the parishioners of St. Joseph’s Cumbernauld, following the example of our Patron and Protector, believe that each member is called to ownership, discipleship, and evangelisation to our parish and local community.
The parish is a community of God’s people centered on the word of God and the Eucharist:
where all seek to be loving and caring, welcoming, forgiving, serving and healing;
where the poor can go for help, the lonely for company and the sorrowing for comfort;
where, with obedience to our own faith and respect for other faiths, we seek unity with all;
where, in a spirit of mission, we aim to promote God’s glory throughout the world;
where there is a passion for justice and peace;
where, as stewards of creation, we care and protect the environment locally and globally; and,
where Christ is the way and the truth and the life.
We do all of this as members of the Catholic community within the
Archdiocese of Glasgow and the universal Church.
