Fr. John Quinn

Fr. John Quinn

Former Curate

Fr. John Quinn (1984-88) came to St. Joseph’s to replace Fr. Kay, having just completed his own studies in Rome. He was the nephew of the founding Parish Priest, Fr. James Quinn. Fr. John was transferred to St. Margaret Mary’s, Castlemilk, in 1988. He later left the Priesthood.

Former Curate

Fr. John Kay (1982-84) came to St. Joseph’s from Rome, where he had just finished his studies, in 1982. He left in 1984 to take up a teaching post at Blairs College. He later left the Priesthood.

Fr. Neil Donnachie

Fr. Neil Donnachie

Former Curate

Fr. Neil Donnachie (1976-1990) came to St. Joseph’s from St. Peter’s, Partick, in 1976 when a third priest was needed for the parish. He was appointed chaplain to Our Lady’s High School in 1983. In 1990, Fr. Donnachie was appointed Spiritual Director at the Scots College, Valladolid (Spain). He is now the Parish Priest of Holy Cross, Crosshill.

Fr. Peter O’Farrell

Fr. Peter O’Farrell

Peter O’Farrell (1975-81) was appointed Curate to St. Joseph’s by the then Archbishop, Thomas Joseph Winning, to assist Fr. Strain in what was then a fast-growing parish. He was later transferred to St. Laurence’s, Drumchapel, in 1981. He died in 2013.

Fr. John McGuire

Fr. John McGuire

Former Curate

Fr. John McGuire (1968-75) was the first curate to be sent to St. Joseph’s. He assisted Fr. Quinn in establishing the parish and also served as chaplain of Our Lady’s High School in Ravenswood. He left to work with the poor in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He is currently serving the people of Saint Laurence’s, Drumchapel.
