Ss. Fabian & Sebastian

Ss. Fabian & Sebastian

In the year 236, Fabian was chosen to be Bishop of Rome, and in 250, under the persecution of the Emperor Decius, he was crowned with martyrdom and buried in the cemetery of St. Callistus.

Sebastian also suffered persecution under the Emperor Diocletian. He was put to death by arrows and buried in the cemetery known as Ad Catacumbas (on the way to the catacombs) on the Via Appia, one of the ancient arterial Roman roads into Rome.
